User Experience (UX) Work
In Fall 2015, I enrolled in a graduate-level User Experience (UX) and Usability course at NDSU. During the course, my partner and conducted user research for the owners of the NDSU English Department website. We wanted to find out what faculty, students, and staff really thought about the English Department site, and we were particularly interested in their emotional experiences connected to it. Did they ever find themselves frustrated while using the site? Or were they mostly neutral or positive about it?
At the same time, we wanted to familiarize ourselves with the genres and practices of user experience and usability research. We positioned ourselves as novice investigators looking to make a modest impact on our department’s website based on user experiences and needs.
We believe we were able to achieve our goals through a combination of user interviews, contextual inquiry, card sorting, personas, user journeys, and usability reports. Our final UX recommendation report is the culmination of our research.
You can view user journeys, a sample usability test report for another class project, and the final UX recommendation report below.
Technical Communication Work
As a Technical Communications Specialist at Quadax, I published a number of articles in our client-facing newsletter, Q Tips. I researched and wrote about changes to government healthcare policy for the hospitals, labs, and providers who used our software.
